HEY BOO, IT’S HALLOWEEN!

Way back in the primordial dawn of my photography school education,  I was seriously hell-bent on making every one of my photos look like it was a still from some sort of campy horror flick.  My good buddy and roommate, Darrell, lived through this nightmare and was a helluva trooper!  He’d wake up at ungodly hours of the morning and bend over backwards in a diaper for the sake of my school art projects.   Like most shoddy movies, I’m not really sure what it was all about but I sure am glad that it’s over.

BOUROULLEC’S BIVOUC AT THE MCA

The MCA asked me to shoot the opening of Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec’s show, Bivouc. It was real cool to be able to run around this huge, packed show with my camera blazing. Here’s a taste of what was going down:

The show runs until January 20th.

LEIGH AND BEN

Leigh and Ben were married at The Catalyst Ranch in Haymarket Square last month.  After a short and intimate ceremony, the place was transformed into a bumpin’ karaoke jam.

PALE HANDS I LOVED

Pale Hands I Loved is Meredith Miller’s cabaret revue that was recently featured at Links Hall. The 10 acts were packed with gloom, hilarity, grotesquery, beauty, nostalgia, entertainment and some downright catchy tunes. Be on the lookout for Meredith’s starring role in the upcoming film, The Poisoner.

MARK AND ALISON

Mark and Alison were married at The Red Barn Experience in LaPorte Indiana and I pulled a photographer/groomsman double duty. Selena Abbott photographed the ceremony while I held down my groomsman post up front.

KERI AND TED AND FRIENDS

I hung out with Keri, Ted and their pooches in their Oak Park back yard.  They’ll  be married in a few weeks (the people, not the dogs) and I’m pretty psyched to shoot it.

MORE POISON FOR YOUR EYES

Filming of The Poisoner has come to an end.  I already miss being able to pace around a film set with a camera.  Watch for it to hit a big screen a few months from now.  Meanwhile feast your eyes on some of Chirs Hefner’s other work here:  http://cmhefner.com/.

Filmmaker, Chris Hefner, sprinkles movie dust onto the set.

Sara Engel molded a huge pile of prop pistols.

Here’s Sara with some of those guns.

Ryan Shuquem receives a surprise package.

This film was made pretty intimately. I’m pretty sure that most of the cast and crew are pictured here.

Andrew Morgan of Little Cabin Films handled the cinematography. His lighting expertise made it pretty easy for me to simply walk around the set and snap some good looking photos.

Here’s Chris giving Meredith some direction.

PARTY IN A RED BARN

My dear friends, Mark and Alison, asked me to shoot their wedding….and hold down a groomsman position.  Not knowing how this would be possible, I said “hell yeah!” and ordered a remote  control thingy so I can include myself in a few photos.  The wedding is taking place  at and around a barn in Indiana, their will be fireworks involved and my beloved friends can party in ways that most folks just don’t know how to.  I would be heartbroken if I couldn’t run around this wedding with a camera!

Alison James (soon to be Mckenzie) designed and screen printed the invitation pictured below.  They’re among the coolest wedding invitations that I’ve ever seen and if you’re lucky, she might provide a service for the general public one day.

POISONER

Chris Hefner began shooting his new feature film, The Poisoner, last week.  I loitered around the set while some fantastically spooky images were  constructed all around us.  The first day of shooting took place at the endangered Portage Theater and carried on to a former furniture factory in Jefferson Park that has become the film’s production house.  I’m looking forward to dropping in on the set in the future and seeing what kind of monster it will become!

EATIN’ ICE CREAM WITH MEGAN AND LUKE

Megan and Luke revisited one of their teen-age haunts while I licked at ice cream and snapped photos all at once.  Multi-tasking can be both fun and delicious.  The Chocolate Shoppe rules and so do Megan and Luke!  I’m psyched to shoot their wedding next month.
